Competition rules

The International Concerto Competitions 2024 is open to the following instruments: piano, strings, woodwinds and brass instruments.

Applicants are required to submit video recordings for the audition, one or more movements of the chosen concerto from the Repertoire list. If you wish to apply with a piece which is not on the repertoire list please send a request via email to info@londonconcertocompetition.co.uk

Applicants must submit a video recording of one or more movements with Orchestra, piano accompaniment or solo performance without the accompaniment of the chosen concerto from the following repertoire list: Contestants may perform with the score or from memory (there is no advantage if you perform from memory). 

Only video links will be accepted (video links with a password will also be accepted).
Videos that need to be downloaded will not be accepted.

The London International Concerto Competition 2024 is open to any nationality and without age limit. Multiple winners (at least 6 finalists) will be chosen to perform one or more movements of selected concertos from the repertoire list. For short concertos with a duration of around 10-12 mins, e.g. (Vivaldi concertos) winners can perform the whole concerto.  

Semifinalists might also have an opportunity to be invited to perform as soloists with the London City Philharmonic in their future seasons as was the case with violinist Mikako Shimatani who was a semifinalist in the 2022 competition and was invited to perform with the London City Philharmonic in their 2022-2023 season.

The chosen winners will be invited to perform one or more movements of the concerto with the London City Philharmonic at St James Paddington in central London which has excellent acoustic for classical music concerts.

An international panel of qualified judges and selected orchestra members and conductor of the  London City Philharmonic Olsi Qinami will evaluate the audition materials.
Application deadline

The application deadline is extended until 4 April 2024. The results will be announced by 10 April.

Winners’ results will be announced and contacted via email by 8 April 2024. The names of the Finalists and Semifinalists will also be published on the website. 

The winners’ concert performance is on Saturday 6 July 2024 at 19:30 (St James Paddington in Central London). Rehearsal with the orchestra will take place on the evening of 5 July plus a rehearsal in the afternoon on concert day.
The applicant’s name and the title of the audition piece must be included in the description of the video submitted.
The decisions of the Judges are final and cannot be appealed.

The final selection of winners will be based solely on the video recordings submitted.

Certificates of Recognition will be granted to the performing winners after the Winners Concert. Winners who have chosen not to participate in the Winners Concert for any reason will be disqualified.

Winners Concert

The winners’ concert performance date is Saturday 6 July 2024 (19:30) at St James Paddington in central London. Winners of the Competition will perform one or more movements of the chosen concerto.

Each winner will perform with the London City Philharmonic on 6 July 2024 and will receive a video recording of their performance after the concert.

Rehearsal with the orchestra will take place on the evening of 5 July plus a rehearsal in the afternoon on concert day. In case the concert or participation must be postponed because of force majeure, the organization will reschedule the concert for a different period. All participants are responsible for their own expenses travel, and housing accommodations.
